WWW Wednesday (July 29-August 5)

WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Taking On A World Of Words where bloggers answer three simple questions regarding their week in reading.

I was so super excited to find Little Free Library over by my work’s new location! There are a few locations here in Tucson, but I’ve never had the time to actually go search for one. Thankfully, this one was on my way home and I was even more excited to find a book that I’ve been really wanting to read. Kudos to the friendly neighbor that supplied the book. So far, I’m really enjoying the book. I’m dying to know what the mystery behind the 24-hour bookstore is. So no spoilers!

Okay, so I may be slightly embarrassed about this current read. I read all three of the 50 Shades books when they came out, more out of my obsessive need to always finish a series after I start it (but, also because I thought it was hilarious). I just HAD TO KNOW what happened in the end. I downloaded Grey for my assistant, who loved the first three books. We decided to read it together for our mini (read: two person) office book club. I’m not going to lie, I think I may like the story slightly better from his perspective.

On top of these two new books, I’m still chugging along through my audiobook of The Bluest Eye and struggling through Dune. I’m just not as captivated by Dune as I thought I was going to be.

It took me FOREVER, but I finally finished Our Endless Numbered Days, not because I didn’t like the book, but because every time I finally had time to read I was so tired that I fell asleep. There are some drool marks on the pages that I will not apologize for. I really loved this book and I’m so glad that I received it in one of my Muse Monthly packages back in June or else I probably would have never known about it. Review to come.

Thanks to CBB Book Promotions I was able to participate in a book tour and review an advanced copy of The Secret Sister, you can read my review here. I definitely wasn’t expecting to love this book as much as I did. Typically, I’m not one to be into contemporary romances (though, after saying that I’m acutely aware that I’ve actually read quite a few). But, like I said in my review I devoured this book. It’s suppose to be a part of a series, so I’m super excited to read the next installment.

And take this for a TBR takedown! I finally read Landline! I’m not sure what I was expecting before reading this book, but I really liked it. There were some parts that were a little slow for my liking and other parts that made me roll my eyes, but overall it was quite enjoyable. It was definitely original and actually similar to a reoccurring plot that I’m always thinking about. Well, minus the magic phone and everything.

I pulled my first book topic for the Books of the Nightstand Summer Bingo Challenge and got an academic/campus novel. After staring at my TBR pile (which is becoming pretty hefty) I realized what better way to fulfill a “campus” novel than with than with the second book about our favorite boy who lived at the best school ever created ever? There is no better way, that’s the correct answer.

I absolutely love ‘Penumbra!’ I hope you like it as well. The mystery takes the characters to really cool places. I read all of the 50 Shades books for a similar reason. It’s a trainwreck you can’t look away from… I hope you’re enjoying ‘The Bluest Eye.’ It’s on my shelf and looks really good. Potter is always a great choice for a read! Hope you enjoy it. Happy reading and thanks for participating in WWW Wednesday!
